Fanfiction... Stopping?

As much as I enjoy writing fanfiction, I've hit another slump with it. I'm very discouraged by the complete lack of reader response I'm getting on the fics I post. Why should I take the effort to edit and polish a fic, post it to LJ and broadcast it on tumblr, only to get maybe 3 comments at most? I've gotten one comment on the Hide-Zou x Tsune fic I posted a few days ago. Cleaning it up was actually pretty complicated and I wonder if I wasted my time since it seems like no one is reading what I post.

It surely seems that I'm just begging for comments with this, but I'm not. I wanted to make a point.

The Hide-Zou x Tsune chapter I posted will probably be the last fanfic I post for a while. I'm not motivated because I feel like I'm wasting my time with the entire posting process. So I'll be working on my novels and writing a little on my computer. Decide what projects I want to continue.

;0; sorry that i am always to lazy to Post coments in livejournal but when it make you happy i read (and like) all your fanfics that you posted ♡ (but i can understand you...sometimes i think about stop drawing/upload pictures because of that as well )
It would be sad when you stop writing ffs but as long you dont stoped writing stories all is ok :)

yeah.  the ninja readers are very demotivating.  I you don't see me commenting on some of the recent fics its because I haven't read them yet.  Too tired from work

No, I doubt that's the case. I think people just aren't reading and commenting anymore *shrug* Nothing I can do about it though. I hope the same happens for you and you get more reader responses

I enjoy your fanfics, it's just the D fandom...well...not a lot of people read D fanfics.
See if you were a Gazette writer, then it will be different. Those fic writers get what...10 to 16 comments at most since their fanbase is frickin' huge.

When I wrote for the Diru fandom...I got like 6 to like...23 comments at most.

I get discourage a lot but I don't let that stop me from writing fics.

I'm old and being doing this for years. ;; Don't give up yet, yea.

Also you don't have a computer and reading on a phone is kind of a pain. Sounds exhausting but that's great that you're earning so much.

Well, the issue is that they used to. I know that the D fandom was never huge like Gazette but I did used to get a lot of responses. Now? Not so much.

That's a good amount. When I wrote for Gazette I had something similar I think.

I have original work though. The only reasons I really started doing fanfiction was A) massive writer's block B) I got a lot of reader feedback. Then it wound up being really fun. But for the past couple years I've been having a tough time with balancing fanfiction and my original work.

Well...since the Atsushi and Asagi fic is finished, I think I'll go ahead and print it out. (: Give me something to read...since I'm going to check out more books. My last day off before I work from Thursday to Saturday with the possibility of working overtime on Sunday.
I keep forgetting now that you are back, I'm going to send you a text on what's going on at my end. Things happened and yea...

I have Original work too, actually one of my muses that I use frequently is based of one of my characters in my novel.

Hopefully you stay around, if you leave and Dead Vortex, then I may retire ;; I know I haven't put anything new lately...it's just...

I will at least finish "To Love a Vampire". Then, depending on how I feel after that, I might "retire" from fanfic writing. I'll have to think about it

Lack of comments was one of the reasons I stopped writing fanfiction too. I had been thinking about it for a while as I wanted to write original works but lack of comments definitely influenced me. I'm sorry this is getting you down *hugs* I know how you feel - there's nothing more frustrating than spending time on something and then getting little feedback :(

It's a mixture of wanting to devote time to my original work and being frustrated about the minimal comments. It's just one of many things that gets me down lately *sigh* I agree, it's very frustrating.

*hugs* yeah its really frustrating :( Try not to let it get you down too much. Maybe it would help to take a break for a while and concentrate on some original works?

I have enough getting me down so I'm not really bothering with it much. Original works are being tricky too. But I do have AoD all complied into one document so I'll read through it and start making my changes
