kreones. I’m really sorry I couldn’t get the boys to have sex, my smut muse seems to have joined a convent.
It’s fucking cold in the house. I’m shivering as I pull my coat tighter around me then freeze as I see my hands. No rings. No tattoos. They’re a child’s hands… shit shit shit I’m a kid again and the shadows are going to get me unless I can get to Mom first. She’s the only one who could ever protect me from them. The only one who listens.
“Tsuzuku,” I cringe as I hear my name in that horrible singsong voice. Not her… please don’t let it be her. Not the leader.
“Come play with us, Tsuzuku!”
“We missed you.”
It’s them. The three who tormented me when I was a kid. Have to get away… have to find Mom. She can protect me. Running down the hall to her room but the hall keeps shifting. Changing. Rooms that should be there are now gone until it’s only my old bedroom at the end of the hall. I stop in the doorway, heart pounding as I look inside. The poster of Starry Night that the shadows like to dart across. The closet they hid in to scare me. The outlet they kept telling me to put metal in so I could join them in their world. The bookshelf that toppled onto me when I was five.
“Play with us again,” the voices call. The books quiver on the shelf and the closet door slides open to reveal a yawning abyss. A shadowy hand stretches out from under the bed and reaches towards me…

A deafening clap of thunder jolted Ryoga from a sound sleep. Growling in irritation he cracked an eye open to look at the rain pelting against Tsuzuku’s windows. What a miserable night. He shifted into a more comfortable position then glanced over to see if the storm had woken Tsuzuku or not. His best friend was still asleep although his slumber looked far from peaceful. His fingers were tightly curled into the pillowcase while his face creased in agitation. Nightmares? Ryoga had known Tsuzuku since they were six so he knew what his having a nightmare face looked like. As a kid he’d been plagued by nightmares which had continued into his adult life. Tsuzuku slept better with Ryoga at his side and both thoroughly worn out after some good sex (with them, the sex was always good) but doing so nightly would be dangerously close to dating. Something neither of them wanted. So Ryoga didn’t always stay even though when he saw Tsuzuku’s dark circles later he wondered if he should.
Sighing, Ryoga reached out to his friend. “Tsu, wake up.” He gripped his bare shoulder and shook him gently. “You’re having a nightmare.” He froze when Tsuzuku shied away and let out this horrible whimper that Ryoga only heard when he was having truly horrific nightmares. “Tsuzuku!” he half shouted his name as he shook him harder. Tsuzuku jerked awake, eyes wide and panicky as they darted around the room looking for someone… or something. Seeing nothing out of the ordinary he took a breath, focusing on Ryoga’s face as he worked to calm his breathing.
“You were having a nightmare,” the blonde explained, making a face as thunder rolled again. Nightmares and a storm… as if that wasn’t a complete cliché. He traced his thumb over Tsuzuku’s inked skin, wondering if he should ask what he’d been dreaming out. Sometimes his best friend wanted to talk about his nightmares. Other times he wanted them forgotten only to be raised from the darkness of his memories in lyrics and music. Or a drawing.
Tsuzuku raked his fingers through his messy black hair. “Breaking my own record,” he muttered, voice husky from sleep. “That’s every damn day so far.”
Ryoga frowned. “Of this week?”
Tsuzuku made a noise of affirmation then glanced at him again. “I…” he swallowed then turned onto his side to face Ryoga, positioning his body closer to the blonde’s. “I keep seeing the shadow people from when I was a kid. sometimes I am a kid again. Sometimes I’m an adult and I’m in my old room. Other times they’re here in this apartment.” He sighed as he moved closer then dropped his head onto Ryoga’s pillow, snaking an arm around his waist to run his fingers up and down his bare back in a slow caress. “I’m,” he swallowed again. Ryoga knew him so well that he knew all his nervous tics.
“What?” Ryoga prompted, moving his hand to Tsuzuku’s waist. He trailed his fingers over the numbers there as he waited patiently for the words to come to his best friend.
“I think there’s another one here.”
Ryoga’s eyebrows shot up. “A shadow person?” Now it was his turn to look around the bedroom even though it was dark but for the glowing numbers coming from the alarm clock or the lights from their charging cell phones. As if he’d be able to see any sort of shadow in here now let alone the ones Tsuzuku loathed and feared. He took a breath, gripping Tsuzuku’s hip when he tried to scoot back. Shadow people were a touchy subject with him so Ryoga knew to proceed carefully. “Have you seen one here? Or is it just the nightmares.”
Tsuzuku frowned. It took him a few moments but then he shook his head. “No, I haven’t. My nightmares are about shadow people though so that’s why I wondered…” he trailed off then scowled down at the sheets.
Smirking, Ryoga ruffled Tsuzuku’s hair with his free hand. A gesture both of them hated to have done to them but did it to each other anyway. “You can always stay at my apartment. Or Yo-ka’s,” he added, grinning as he remembered the last time the three of them had been at Yo-ka’s apartment. Such a pleasurable night and oh the neighbors had given them the most vile looks when they were leaving the next morning. Surely jealous since their sex life wasn’t anywhere near as good or entertaining.
The corners of Tsuzuku’s mouth turned up in a faint smile. “I know.” Abruptly Ryoga found himself on his back with Tsuzuku’s body pressing his into the mattress, hands in his hair and soft lips on his. Ryoga returned the kiss and hooked his leg around Tsuzuku’s waist as he rolled his hips up against him. Tsuzuku nipped Ryoga’s lip as he rocked down against him causing both to groan into the kiss. After a quick shower last night they’d tumbled into bed together where all that bare, inked skin next to him had been far too tempting to resist. Tsuzuku usually wasn’t up for bottoming twice in one night so Ryoga relaxed on the bed and surrendered himself to Tsuzuku.
“Arms up,” Tsuzuku whispered against his lips.
“Need a distraction?” Ryoga purred, giving Tsuzuku a lecherous look as he moved off of him. He raised his arms above his head then glanced at the clock, snorting as he saw the time. “Not even 04:00 and you already want to cuff me?” He teased as he watched Tsuzuku lean over to open the drawer of the bedside table, licking his lips as he remembered using some of its contents last night. Of making Tsuzuku squirm and beg for more even while he’d glared at Ryoga to hurry the fuck up.
“You enjoy it.”
Ryoga shifted lazily. “Prefer you being the one in chains.” Having Tsuzuku tied up and at his mercy was so sexy.
“Keep talking and I’ll shut that pretty mouth of yours up.”
“With your cock?” Ryoga purred, tongue darting out to wet his lips as he made a show of looking his best friend’s body over.
Tsuzuku grinned. “If that’s how you want it.” He tossed handcuffs and a bottle of lube onto the bed, closing the drawer once he had a condom. Neither were the monogamous type and as much as he preferred feeling skin, both were cautious with their health. Ryoga watched Tsuzuku move towards him again. He picked up the cuffs, teasingly running the cool metal up Ryoga’s chest before closing one around his wrist. Tsuzuku looped the chain around the headboard then closed the second cuff around Ryoga’s free wrist before leaning back, eyes raking over Ryoga’s body and drinking in the view. The blonde had a snippy retort ready, to ask if Tsuzuku was going to fuck him or just stare at him, but movement out of the corner of his eye caught his attention. Ryoga turned his head to the window and squinted at it. He’d seen something moving across it but had it been a trick of the light? Or a trick of his imagination since they’d just been talking about shadow people?
Ryoga shivered when Tsuzuku started kissing his neck. One hand slid down to grasp his hip, nails playfully scratching over it to make him squirm. “Tsu,” the blonde hissed, eyes starting to flutter shut. Wait, he’d just seen something! Ryoga’s eyes opened and he turned his attention to the window once more. There was nothing different about it. Just a window with the half-open curtains they’d been too lazy to close last night. It had to be his imagination getting to him… it was dark, Tsuzuku had a nightmare, and the talk of shadow people was making him see movements when there wasn’t any. He hoped. If a shadow person had attached itself to Tsuzuku again… fuck, Ryoga hoped that wouldn’t happen. Tsuzuku didn’t need to go through that again.
Pushing the matter aside, the blonde turned his head so he could catch Tsuzuku’s lips for a kiss. If… and oh there better not be one… if there was something paranormal lurking in the apartment, it was about to get an eyeful.
Notes
[1] This is essentially the prologue for a two to three part series[1] involving the members of Mejibray (with appearances from Ryoga and Rito) as paranormal investigators.
“Parts” as in each part is its own individual series of at least five chapters. Likely more.
[2] I’m basing the shadow people/Tsuzuku’s experience off of what I’ve heard on the TV show, Dead Files, where the host is a physical medium who encountered shadow people in her childhood. She’s afraid of them to this day since when she was four they told her that if she bit the electrical cord in her room she’d be able to come with them.
I’m slowly trying to get back into regular writing. July was basically hell month for me since I was so stressed or so busy that I didn’t get much time to write or if I did have the time I had no desire to do so. Life is stabilizing now though so I’m hoping I can devote time to writing again.

Date: 2014-08-08 02:12 am (UTC)I'm digging the ghosts and creepiness of it all. Such a tease with that scene xP
I wonder what these shadow people will do...

Date: 2014-08-08 10:52 pm (UTC)Ryoga and Tsu look so adorable together and make such a great pairing. Tsuzuku even blogged once and was whining about Ryoga being on tour and thus he couldn't see him. So cute.
As I said, my smut muse joined a convent and just would not cooperate.
Give Tsuzuku plenty of headaches and nightmares, for starters.

Date: 2014-08-08 10:55 pm (UTC)It'll be a little while before I start uploading more chapters. I need to get a concrete outline for this series and do some revisions/finish the two chapters I have written. I'm hoping I can work on this series over my vacation (starts tomorrow and lasts until Friday) since I'll just have time to bum around my apartment

Date: 2014-08-11 05:46 am (UTC)You're welcome. I'm glad you liked it despite the lack of a sex scene. I'm going to try to get another chunk of my vampire series done before I work on the ghost series. Hoping to get a lot of writing done now that I'm on break and have nother better to do

Date: 2014-09-04 01:01 am (UTC)You could follow my journal and subscribe to it, get an email whenever I post. I know that's an option as some of my friends have done that. Since I definitely won't remember to update people about a new chapter and I often forget to post to jrockyaoi.

Date: 2015-02-10 12:10 am (UTC)I absolutely agree. There's really not much you can do and after you've written about bandmen's lives it gets deathly dull to continue it.
Oh really? Hm, I think now you can just add someone to friend's list then go to your settings for email notifications. I have a lot of this series started or written so I'd like to try posting next month :)
