Updates and Puppy
Aug. 12th, 2015 11:01 pmIt's been a little over a year since Rowan had to be put down. There was a distinct, Sheltie sized hole in the family. It took a while for my parents to be ready to bring another dog home and then when we wanted one it was the debate between puppy or rescue. Had to rule puppy out for a while as breeders were charging anywhere from $1,000 to $2,500. We want a pet, not a show dog. So I suggested rescues which... didn't work... as all the rescues I came into contact either didn't adopt out of state, wouldn't answer my emails, or were downright rude. So. Back to puppy. And I was just browsing one website when I found a listing for Sheltie puppies, in Michigan, that wouldn't require me to sell a kidney to get one. The next day, an hour long drive later, Dad and I picked up the newest addition to our family. His name is Callum and he's a 10 week of Sheltie who immediately captures everyone's hearts. He's very playful but once he's sleepy he loves to snuggle. I usually grab him and curl up on the couch with him.

Isn't he just precious?
My specialist tried another potential treatment for carpal tunnel. I got a shot right into the median sheath to free up the blockage there and it seemed to be working. My left arm was bothering me at work but the right felt okay. I still had some symptoms but it was a lot more mild. Then I went into work on Sunday and nope, everything was bad. My left arm absolutely killed me from finger to shoulder and my right hurt too. My doctor said there was a 50/50 chance of the shot working. We tried the cortisone shot into my shoulder, now tried the shot into the median sheath. He said if that didn't work then he'd refer me to a hand surgeon to talk about what my options are. I'm also seeing a chairopractor because a customer came in at work and suggested that for carpal tunnel. It's not helping my wrists any but it did get rid of my neck pain so there's something at least.
So with work, Callum, and carpal tunnel I basically haven't had any chance to write. I've had the last three days off but I've been the primary puppy babysitter since Mom or Dad were at work. Then when my relief comes and I get to take a break I just want to play with him or lie on the couch and watch TV instead of writing. Plus to write I'd need to put my computer on my lap or go to the table and not been in the mood for either of those.
I have one fic almost done, just have to do the revisions. I'd hoped to be finished with the D portion of the vampires by the end of August but looks like I'm going to have to push that back again. Sigh. I'm hoping to get it done by the end of September though. Maybe if I set the autumn equinox as my goal I'll manage.
Also for those who read my fic "Don't Mess with Ouija Boards" which was supposed to open up into my paranormal series, I've decided to redo it and expand on the activity going on in Subaru and Mahiro's apartment. I don't want to get really into the ghost series until I'm done with the vampires so that's going to wait and build up in my mind some more. I've been outlining and writing down scene ideas so I'm hoping once I get the chance to get working on that and fix up what I've got so far, it'll flow well.
That's about it with me for updates. I also need to look for a new job because I hate mine... Cashiering at a grocery store is really fucking up my body. I have days where it's okay and then other days when the pain is bad all the way up my arm. But typing aggravates my hands after a while so I'm still wonderin gif I should even try for an office type job or not. My thumbs have been bugging me too if I'm on my phone for too long. Ergh. Just falling apart...

He's sleeping on the floor right now. He wore himself out from playing
