Author's Comment: Sorry I took so long to finish Part 2! I got completely stuck after one paragraph, but now it's all done. Here's a link to
Part 1 if you haven't read it before or don't remember what happened
Several months had passed since that evening, and Shou had changed. He’d gotten his teeth repaired and for awhile his smiles had been scarce since that’s what he was used to, but he’d gained confidence and learned to smile more. Hiroto would catch his wrist when his boyfriend tried to cover up his smile, and gradually Shou stopped hiding them at all. It made Hiroto happy to see Shou smiling confidently or laughing along to a joke while his hands stayed away from his face. So Hiroto was happy his beloved Shou was happy, but he was also a little sad that Shou had hated his teeth so much he’d had to change them. Hiroto had hoped that he’d be able to give Shou confidence, but it wasn’t meant to be. He didn’t begrudge his lover for doing it though since Shou was finally happy with his smile. And as long as Shou was happy, Hiroto was happy.
“Pon?” the vocalist asked, sounding concerned.
Hiroto jumped at the sound of his nickname. “Huh?”
“What’s the matter?”
“Nothing.”
“Are you sure? You were staring off into space. Oh, and you have toothpaste all over your cheek.”
“I do?” Hiroto looked at his reflection, swearing under his breath at the sight of the toothpaste all over his lips and cheek. He grabbed a washcloth and wiped it off.
“That’s what you get for spacing out while brushing your teeth,” Shou laughed, smiling fondly at the guitarist as he ruffled the other’s hair.
Hiroto couldn’t deny the truth of that. He made a mental note not to daydream about Shou while brushing his teeth. He quickly finished brushing his teeth then dragged a comb through his hair, trying to get it to have some sort of style before giving up and turning back to Shou, who looked curious.
“What were you thinking about so hard anyway?”
“How pretty you are,” Hiroto said, grinning as Shou blushed. That was one part about his lover that hadn’t changed.
“Really?”
“Mmhm, especially since you smile now.” Hiroto poked Shou’s cheek.
“I smiled before.”
“You did, but you were always ashamed of them and tried to hide. So I’m happy that you’re confident about your smile now, but I admit… I am a little sad that I couldn’t make you realize how gorgeous you are.”
Shou’s blush deepened. “Back then? No, I wasn’t gorgeous at all. I looked awful.”
Hiroto scowled. “No you didn’t! I thought you were extremely hot even with your crooked teeth, so don’t you put yourself down.”
“But-”
Hiroto stood up on tiptoe, pulling Shou down for a kiss and silencing his protest. “I’ll throw out all of your soymilk if I hear you gripe about how much you hated your teeth back then,” he threatened as he drew back.
Shou looked horrified. “You wouldn’t.”
Hiroto smirked. “I would. Now come on, let’s go out and enjoy our day off!” He grabbed Shou’s hand and practically dragged the vocalist out of the bathroom.
Shou stumbled after him. “Where do you want to go first?”
“Let’s go shopping! I want to get some more Spiderman comics, and the newest Dragon Ball game came out so I have to pick that up too.”
Shou laughed. “You’re starting to sound as nerdy as Nao.”
Hiroto pouted. “You’re just as nerdy as I am! You’re the one with a poster of Cloud.”
The vocalist blushed again. “So? He’s my favorite character in Final Fantasy. You have an action figure of Sephiroth!”
It was Hiroto’s turn to blush now. “Well, he’s my favorite character too!”
A warm smile lit up Shou’s face as he tousled the shorter man’s hair. “I guess we’re perfect for each other then since we’re both nerds who love Final Fantasy.”
Hiroto smiled back. “We are.” He tugged Shou down for another kiss, threading his fingers in his lover’s soft hair and pulling him closer. The vocalist wound his arms around Hiroto’s slim waist and kissed him back.
Panting, Hiroto broke the kiss first. “Love you.”
Shou beamed. “Love you too.” He kissed the top of Hiroto’s head and straightened. “Come on, let’s go shopping. I’ll beat you in Dragon Ball later!”
“Oh? You think you can win?” Hiroto asked, an evil smirk finding its way onto his face.
“I can win,” Shou insisted.
Hiroto refrained from mentioning that he’d totally kicked his lover’s ass in the game the last few times they’d played. “We’ll see about that.” He couldn’t resist tickling Shou’s sensitive sides, grinning as the vocalist laughed and swatted his hands away.
“No tickling!” Shou made a cute face and went over to the doorway so he could slip on his shoes, tucking his wallet and phone into his pocket once he’d finished. Hiroto pulled his shoes on as well and made sure he had his own wallet, keys, and phone.
“Shou, turn around.”
“Hm?” Shou obediently turned around, looking curious as he met Hiroto’s gaze. “What for?”
Hiroto held up his phone. “Smile for me.”
“Okay.” Shou beamed at him, and the guitarist took his picture before glancing down at his screen. He really loved this happy, confident Shou who wasn’t afraid to show off his beautiful smile anymore.
