Done with Soldier
Nov. 22nd, 2011 12:14 amA Soldier's Dream: started July 9 and ended November 21. When I first wrote chapter 1, I barely had any of the story planned out but was so excited I had to start writing it. I ended up taking a day to go through and outline chapter by chapter, and later on I had to add an additional two chapters to my outline.
I honestly didn't expect it would take me this long XD I'd hoped to have it done before I started school in September. That clearly didn't happen. September became my completion go. Also didn't happen. I went for October as my goal... I wrote one chapter in October and was unmotivated and got hooked on re-watching Avatar the Last Airbender. A Solder's Dream was again placed in danger of being delayed into December when I started reading Yu Yu Hakusho (and numerous fanfics) this month. Despite my distractions, I was able to finish it. Yay! I'm proud of myself.
I've decided that... I'm definitely going to change my writing process with my next multi-chapter. I'm going to wait until the next multi-chapter is complete before I start posting to livejournal. When I post once a new chapter is done, I feel like I have to work on the next chapter and nothing else because I have readers waiting impatiently for a new chapter. I'd try to start another fic when I needed a break, but I felt bad for giving up on whatever chapter I was working on and felt like I had to go back and work on it. So I'd try and then I'd get frustrated and end up wasting time on the internet instead of writing. My process would have been a lot faster if I'd waited to post until the fic was done, but oh well. I've learned my lesson for next time.
So, I have some one-shots I need to finish. I have four that I started and finishing those are going to be my first priority. After that, I think I'm going to take a brief break from fanfiction and work on my novel again. I was randomly inspired last night and did a ton of outlining so I now know what's going on with that story. I still have a lot of work to do on it, but I'm looking forward to getting back into it.
As I mentioned earlier, I do have other multi-chapter fanfictions. I have three in mind. All AU... one is is about 7 chapters and one's around 8. The other is... I have no idea since I haven't started outlining. It's going to be at least 20 chapters though. I'm not sure which I'll start first, but I won't work on them until I have more of my novel done. Once I've gotten further in Love and Duty, I'll make another journal about the multi-chapters with a brief summary and just make a poll and have the readers pick which they'd like to read first. Then I'll start writing and I'll figure out how I want to post once the story is complete.

Date: 2011-11-22 12:34 pm (UTC)you have so much inspiration! There still so much I have to finish and I end up RPing every day... basically that's all I tend to do when writing. ehehm. *FAIL* ah well.. at least there'll be some posted RP's in the future. xD
ganbattekudasai! on your next multichapters, your novel, oneshots and everything you want to do. ^_^I want to write an AU multichapter fic too... have had an idea in mind, but it won't progress... I need to think about it more clearly. -__-"

Date: 2011-11-22 05:17 pm (UTC)I do! And not enough time LOL Ohh RPing is so fun. I miss RPing... my usual RP partner is in Japan for a year and it's hard to be online at the same time when she's 12 hours ahead of me. Haha you just have to master the skill of RPing and writing at the same time. I've done it for years!
Thanks! Good luck to you too. I used to hate AU because there are so many terrible ones out there, but then I found good ones and got hooked. I'm looking forward to writing them. What's your idea? And yeah, you should let it build up in your head for a while. That's what I've been doing

Date: 2011-11-22 06:43 pm (UTC)He died, but in this universe, Gackt doesn't realise it. They keep meeting and Hyde starts showing "symptoms" of his death and all. Something like that. but I feel like it could be so good and I have no ideas how to actually work it out properly O_o"

Date: 2011-11-23 11:04 pm (UTC)That sounds like a good process; it's never good to try to force yourself to write a chapter or focus on just one fic when you don't really feel motivated to work on it, so this'll be better I think :)
Yay for the one-shots! And really hope you can get a lot done for your novel. A poll sounds perfect too, looking forward to voting and the reading the multi-chapter fics~

Date: 2011-11-27 03:08 pm (UTC)No, it's not and that's why it took so long to write. My new process is going to be much better for writing.
Me too! I've decided I won't start any multi-chapters until part 1 of my novel is done. So... probably will take me into next year, but we'll see. Maybe I'll have a flash of inspiration and get a ton of things done.

Date: 2011-11-27 03:10 pm (UTC)There's a bonus of not reading for a while, you won't have to wait for me to update anymore.
I know, it's an unpleasant feeling. It honestly helped a lot to just handwrite some of the chapters in my notebook when I was waiting for class to start. That made the writing process go so much faster, so if you can do the same that'd really help you.
Haha! RPing is fun... you'll just have to master the art of RPing and writing at the same time. That's what I do all the time XD Or well, did since my RP partner is in Japan. Hard to RP anything when she's 12 hours ahead of me and has limited access to the internet. Good luck with writing :)

Date: 2011-11-29 03:13 pm (UTC)That's what I do too, although I really prefer to have it outlined before I start writing... but it doesn't always work like that.
Huh, that is weird. You'll have to train yourself to be able to multitask again. I know... I keep thinking of all these awesome ideas but *sigh*

Date: 2011-11-29 08:56 pm (UTC)A girl I used to RP with had the same problem. I never got it since I thought it was easy to switch from one window to the next. Although sometimes I'd use the wrong characters, which was funny xD I do... I miss it. LOL she's Swedish so she's 6 hours ahead of me. I just kept her up late. Now that she's in Japan it's my turn to be up late chatting with her. I'd love that. Aw, thank you :) It can be hard with two people... but it can work. Nah, not so busy that I don't have time for some creativity.

Date: 2011-11-25 05:37 pm (UTC)d'aww I'm gonna be quite sad when you compete the 4 one-shots and take a break from writing fics. Gonna miss your writing. ;')
Ps. Sorry I haven't reviewed properly to chap 11 and 12 because I am busy nowadays, but I'll review it when I have time, promise. :*

Date: 2011-11-27 03:12 pm (UTC)Oh I'll still be around, I might lose it and take a break from Love and Duty to write a fanfic or two.
That's all right, take your time. The chapters aren't going anywhere :)
