Summary: Hyde and Tetsu go out grocery shopping, but Tetsu decides to go clothes shopping instead. Hyde is not happy about being deprived of food.
Author's Comment: My contribution to the "shopping" prompt for laruku_in_words. It was a little strange writing Tetsu again, I'm so used to writing Sakura or Gackt with Hyde now.

Hyde rubbed his stomach as it growled. “I’m hungry,” he complained. He and Tetsu had gone out to buy groceries since their food supply was pitifully low. They were down to a few vegetables and their last set of cup noodles. He wanted to eat lunch before buying groceries though since he would buy fewer items if he’d eaten beforehand. Even though L’Arc~en~Ciel was doing well, they couldn’t afford to splurge on groceries.

Tetsu sighed. “You’re always hungry.”

Hyde flicked his long hair back and pouted at his lover. “Then let’s eat so I won’t be hungry anymore.” He indicated a ramen stand. “Like here.” They often ate there before grocery shopping since the food was cheap and delicious.

“Not yet. We should look for stage clothes while we’re here.” Tetsu gestured at the row of clothing shops near the grocery store. Hyde made a face and glanced at the ramen stand again. If he was going to spend money, he much preferred to buy food. But Tetsu loved to shop and would rather buy clothes.

“Can’t we eat first?”

“No,” Tetsu said firmly. “Our stage clothes are an important part of our career.” He ran his fingers through Hyde’s hair. “Don’t forget, we have a meeting next week.” A man from the indie record label, Danger Crue, had approached them after their last live. He had complimented them on their music and said he’d come to their next live. Depending on how that went, they would have another meeting to discuss making an album under his label. Tetsu had organized more practice sessions than normal so they could put on the perfect show next week. Taking L’Arc~en~Ciel to Tokyo was his biggest dream and signing on to a record label was the first step on the road to success.

Hyde sighed and swallowed his protests. Tetsu wasn’t going to take no for an answer. “Fine, let’s go shopping then.” He followed his lover into the first store. The clothes were a little too expensive for his liking so he didn’t always come to this store, but it was easy to find clothes that fit his princess image here. Tetsu went straight to a rack of long dresses and cardigans and immediately started finding things. Hyde wrinkled his nose as Tetsu took a long cardigan off the rack. “Tet-chan, put that back. It looks like a bathrobe.”

“Really?” the bassist held the garment up to him. “I think it looks nice.”

“It’s horrible.”

Tetsu put it back. “Go find something to wear instead of being critical.” He gave Hyde a gentle push towards a rack of white dresses. The singer had perfected his princess style and usually appeared on stage in white dresses, which the fans loved.

“All right, all right.” Hyde tried to ignore his hunger as he started looking through the clothes. If he didn’t find anything in this store, he would get food and then move on the next store. Shopping on an empty stomach was torture. Hyde didn’t see anything in that rack that he liked and moved on to another, glancing up to see if Tetsu had found anything else. His lover had several possibilities draped over his arm. “Tet-chan,” Hyde warned. “Be careful. We still need to eat lunch and buy groceries.” Tetsu was careful with his money, but had the tendency to spend too much on clothes and shoes. Just like one of his ex-girlfriends…

“I know. I’m only going to buy one outfit.”

Hyde gave him a suspicious look. He had heard that before. “I’ll make sure you do.” He resumed searching and finally found a few things that would be perfect for the stage. He draped the clothes over his arm and went to find Tetsu, who had wandered off into another section. “Look what I found!” He showed the bassist his choices. Hyde had picked two white dresses, a navy blue one, and then a skirt and shirt that would go well together.

Tetsu made a face. “My grandma would wear that dress with the lace trim.”

The singer glanced down at the dress in question. It was old fashioned, but it fit with his stage look. He couldn’t come out in jeans and a dress shirt. “It suits my princess image though. I have a jacket and gloves that I could pair with it.” He draped the dress over his arm again. “I’m going to go try these on. What about you?”

“I’ll join you.” They went over to the fitting rooms and went inside. Hyde undressed and tried on the white dress that Tetsu didn’t like. He’d have to make a few adjustments to it, but it fit well and went perfectly with his hair. He could wear this to the live next week. He took off the dress and tried on the navy one. This was an immediate no since it was too difficult to get into. He’d have to have someone zip it for him. It was much easier to wear pieces he could quickly get in and out of. Hyde brushed his hair over his shoulder and made a face at his reflection. The zipper wasn’t the only bad thing about the dress – it looked awful on his body. He definitely wouldn’t buy it. But he could always have Tetsu zip him up the rest of the way. Then he’d have to join Hyde in his fitting room so he could unzip the dress…

The singer opened the door. “Tet-chan, are you dressed?”

 “I am.” Tetsu opened the door dressed in the long cardigan Hyde disliked and an oversized white dress. “That looks terrible. I liked the other one better.”

Hyde grimaced. “Ugh, your outfit is just as bad.”

“What?” Tetsu pouted as he looked down at himself. “I like it!”

“Trust me, it looks better off.” Hyde turned around and held his hair out of the way. “Can you zip me up?”

“Sure.” Tetsu zipped the dress for him. “You’re not going to buy this… are you?”

“Definitely not.” Hyde stepped back into his fitting room and cast him a seductive glance over his shoulder. “I’ll need your help unzipping the dress now.”

Tetsu grinned. “Of course.” He made sure the salesgirl was busy putting clothes away before following Hyde into his fitting room. He shut the door behind them. It was cramped and definitely not meant for two people, but Hyde didn’t mind. It forced them to stand close together. Tetsu turned him around so he could unzip the dress and Hyde stepped out of it, facing his lover once more. He was only wearing boxers now and smirked as Tetsu’s eyes travelled up and down his body appreciatively.

 “Always so beautiful.” The bassist kissed him, pressing him up against the wall and running his hands down Hyde’s soft thighs. The singer returned the kiss and reached up to tangle his fingers in Tetsu’s hair. He deepened the kiss as he continued to stroke Hyde’s thighs, pulling back as the shorter man’s stomach growled loudly. “Way to ruin the mood,” Tetsu laughed.

Hyde smiled sheepishly. “I told you I was hungry.”

“I guess so.” Tetsu kissed him once more. “I’ll go back to my fitting room and finish trying clothes on, then we can eat lunch.”

“Good.” Hyde picked up the discarded dress and hung it up. “I’m almost done. What about you?”

“I have a few more outfits.”

“All right.” Hyde opened the door and gently pushed him out. “Hurry up, I’m hungry.”

Tetsu rolled his eyes. “Food is all you can think about, isn’t it?”

Hyde smirked. “Sometimes. But I think about having sex with you a lot too.” He grinned and shut the door before Tetsu could respond. Satisfied that he would definitely be getting laid tonight, he resumed trying on clothes. He wasn’t happy with the fit of the skirt and shirt or the other dress, so put his jeans and t-shirt back on. At least he liked the first dress. He left the fitting room with the dress and went up to the counter to purchase it. Tetsu joined him a few minutes later with his own outfit. Clothes shopping complete, they could now eat.

“Let’s have ramen!” Hyde grabbed his lover’s hand and pulled him out of the store.

Tetsu laughed. “All right. Then we’ll get groceries and go home.” He brushed the singer’s hair back, lowering his voice. “So were you thinking about sex today?”

“Maybe.” Hyde gave him a teasing smile. “Why, were you?”

“Yes.” Tetsu ran his hand down the singer’s back. “I was thinking we could try out those new handcuffs you bought me.”

“Mm… that sounds fun.” Hyde glanced over his shoulder at the store they’d just left. Sometimes when he started stressing over price tags, he would picture L’Arc~en~Ciel as a famous band. He and Tetsu wouldn’t have to live off cup noodles and cheap vegetables. They could eat whatever they wanted, buy whatever clothes they desired – leather jackets, designer clothes… someday, that would be them.

“Hyde, aren’t you hungry?” Tetsu asked. “You just walked past the ramen stand.”

The singer started and looked up at his lover. “Oh, I was lost in thought.”

Tetsu took his hand again. “About the handcuffs?” He joined the line for the ramen stand.

“No,” Hyde huffed. “I was just imagining us being famous and being able to buy whatever we want.”

Tetsu squeezed his hand. “It’ll happen someday.”

Hyde smiled. “I know.” His smile faded as he looked at their joined hands. Their anonymity and free time would be the price of fame though. They wouldn’t be able to hold hands in public, kiss when they were out walking, or ‘help’ each other try on clothes. They would have to be careful so they could protect their public image. But they would have comfortable lives and be paid to do what they loved: music. “Let’s eat.” He pushed the bittersweet thoughts away. He and Tetsu would still be able to find time for each other as lovers, not bandmates, if it came to that. Just like they found time to socialize with Ken and Sakura outside of work.

XD I love that icon so much. Have you seen the Surprised Gackt meme on tumblr yet? There's one where he's saying OMG IS THAT HYDE? Made me laugh.

I'm glad you enjoyed :) I like writing indies L'Arc. It's fun to write stories about them before they got famous. And indies Hyde and Tetsu are always so cute <3 The two princesses, haha.

Aww this was so cute. I especially liked tetsu helping hyde with the zipper and the kinda bittersweet ending. It's nice to see Hyde realizing his dreams would come with a price.

BTW, your descrption of that cardigan Tetsu tried out made me think of the outfit he wore in the "and She Said" PV immediately... maybe he came back and bought it later after all XDDD

I imagine Hyde needed help with those dresses sometimes. I didn't want it to be solid fluff and I wanted Hyde to understand that fame carries consequences. But he accepts them anyway.

I probably won't for a while ^^; Maybe a one-shot every so often, but I'm working on my multi-chapters and alas there's no HaiTsu in there.

It made me wonder too. Haha they had some pretty bad looks in the 90's XD

I did write another Tetsu/Hyde in the boring class I hate today so I'll try to get that edited and posted this weekend. And I have one more little idea of them, but after that... not much. Sakura has taken over my Hyde-muse XD

I always feel kind of guilty for teasing the readers by making a fic seem like it's going towards smut, but then not writing it. It works so well though that I can't help it XD Thank you! It's nice to take a break from my multi-chapter and write a short little piece like this

Lol, Hyde voiced my current thoughts with his first line. I still find it funny how Hyde is the only one in L'Arc who prefers to buy food than clothes. I'd go for L'Arc goods, the required 3rd option XD

Shopping with Hyde and Tetsuya would be really interesting, especially during their indies era. I want to see Hyde in his princess clothes/image again~ Love how Hyde compared Tetsu to his ex-girlfriends XD

I'll keep that "needing help to unzip" thing in mind~ And that scene with both of them in the dressing room was hot >3 Haha, stomach rumblings always happen at the most inopportune time. Handcuffs! I'll just have to imagine that later~

I loved the last paragraph; there's always a trade-off to gaining something, in this case, fame and fortune in exchange for anonymity. I suppose that's why Hyde likes going overseas so much. Either way, I do hope they're all happy with their lives as they are now.

Thank you! Once I started writing about their indie days, I got hooked. It's fun to write them when they were more 'regular guys'. And I have a huge weakness for princess Hyde XD
