Summary: What should be a relaxing evening for Tetsu is ruined by an irritated Hyde who's having one too many problems with his long hair.

Author’s Comment: For the “enmity” prompt at laruku_in_words. A more light hearted use of the word, but I prefer to keep reality fics that way. I’ll save the drama and angst for AU.

Tetsu sank onto his comfortable couch with a sigh of contentment. That felt amazing. He stretched out and turned on the TV. It was so nice to just lay down and relax. L’Arc~en~Ciel had been on overdrive for the last several weeks: touring, practicing, lives, planning what to do after the tour, more practicing, lack of sleep from travel and practicing… The tour had ended with a perfect finale, as usual, and seeing the fans’ joy made all the hard work worth it. As always. Now that they were back in Tokyo, Tetsu had given his band mates a few days off to get some well-deserved rest. He planned to catch up on his sleep and enjoy some time with his lover.

The tranquility was ruined by the explosion of curses that came from the bathroom. Tetsu frowned and looked up. That didn’t sound good… “Hyde? Are you all right?” he rolled off the couch and went to investigate. Hopefully Hyde hadn’t fallen while getting out of the shower. He’d done that before, something that tended to happen when he was too tired. Tetsu found his lover standing in front of the mirror. He was wrapped in a towel and holding a brush which was tangled in his wet hair. Unharmed, just angry.

“This… fucking… hair,” Hyde hissed. Tetsu winced in sympathy as he raked the brush through his long hair. That was probably making the tangles worse.

The bassist immediately stepped behind his lover and took the brush from him. “You’re going to give yourself a headache and tear out your hair if you brush it that hard.” He gently eased the brush out of Hyde’s hair. Several strands were already caught in it.

“I should just cut it off so I don’t have to deal with it,” Hyde snapped.

The bassist sighed and wrapped one arm around his lover’s waist. Poor Hyde was still stressed and overtired. For the last couple weeks his hair had just been a thorn in his side. It was getting too long so he kept shutting it in the car when he was in a hurry. He had a hard time brushing it after a live or a shower due to all the little tangles that gathered in it and was struggling to keep it silky and healthy. Hyde’s hair was driving him crazy… which was bothering Tetsu. They were supposed to spend the evening relaxing! It’d be impossible if Hyde was having a fit though.

“Shh… I know it’s bothering you.” Tetsu kissed the back of the singer’s neck. “Just try to calm down though. I’ll brush your hair for you then let’s cuddle on the couch and watch a movie. We haven’t done that in ages.” Hyde was still tense so Tetsu pressed him closer and stroked his stomach. “Okay?”

“Fine.” The singer took a deep breath. His reflection still looked mutinous, but he gradually started to relax as Tetsu slowly and patiently brushed out the tangles. He liked brushing Hyde’s hair since it always helped him relax. No matter how stressed he was. Once Tetsu had worked out the tangles he set the brush aside then massaged his scalp, studying Hyde’s reflection. The singer’s eyes were closed and he was practically purring.

“Do you feel better?”

“Much.” Hyde opened his eyes and smiled. “Thanks, Tet-chan.” He turned to embrace Tetsu.

“You’re welcome.” The bassist stroked his bare back. Now they could relax…

Hyde laid his head on Tetsu’s shoulder. “My hair’s driving me crazy.”

“I know it is.”

“I need a change.”

The bassist frowned and ran his fingers through Hyde’s hair. He loved the singer’s long hair, but wouldn’t tell him what to do. If Hyde wanted a haircut then he had every right to get one. It was his hair and his decision to make. “How much do you want to take off?”

“Not too much.” The singer nuzzled Tetsu’s shoulder. “I’d like it to be about collarbone length. I’ve had hair down to the middle of my back or longer for years now. It’s too soon to have short hair, but having it down to my collarbones will be much more manageable.”

Tetsu smiled. Good, Hyde’s hair wouldn’t be too short then. And his lover really did deserve a change. He’d worn his hair princess style – as Ken liked to say – since before they’d met. Hyde’s mother wouldn’t be happy though… “Your mom will be devastated.”

The singer laughed. “She will be.”

Tetsu kissed his forehead. “You’ll have to take extra pictures for her.”

“I will.” Hyde stood up on tiptoe to kiss him. “Thanks, Tet-chan.”

“You’re welcome.” The bassist gave the towel a playful tug. “Are you going to get dressed or stay in this?” He wouldn’t complain about his lover just wearing a towel, but they were both tired from touring. Neither of them had the energy for anything more than cuddling. Tomorrow though…

“I am.” Hyde smirked as he pulled back. “Unless you had something else in mind?”

“Ask me that tomorrow.” Tetsu kissed his lover again, stroking his hair. “When are you getting it cut?”

“In a couple days.” Hyde brushed his bangs back. “I need to figure out what style I want… I might dye it a little darker too.”

Tetsu nodded. Two days would give him plenty of time to enjoy Hyde with his long hair. But he knew his lover would look just as beautiful with shorter hair as he did with his princess look.

Except for the occasional challenge fic I won't be writing realism fics anymore. I just find them boring. This was fun since it was short, but it's too hard to make a fic with substance when I'm using real universe. But thank you :) Yes it is, and princess Hyde having a temper tantrum was too cute to not write

I get really irritated with mine when I need it cut so had Hyde feel the same. I can see it because long hair does get irritating... Even though Hyde does have such pretty hair

I used to have long hair but it was nasty and ratty because I didn't know what to do with it but wanted long hair anyway. Cutting it off was amazing XD It's hard to have long hair!

I think it's been about 4 years since I've had long hair. It really is a pain to take care of, but I'm trying to grow it again. Short hair is a nice break but there's not much you can do with it :/

How ironic that I'm reading this now, as I got a haircut while at my cousin's. I actually don't like how it turned out, but my hair does feel tons healthier at least ^^'

Yeah. I hope so; I actually like the cut, but it's not what I wanted and I don't feel like I can pull it off. We'll see though. Yeah, it's so soft now, lol. Good idea :)

His hair is really quite simple. Oh okay. Hm... try a salon where they speak English next time. Maybe they'll do a better job next time *sigh* All right
