Author's Comment:  I can't even remember how this idea came to me since it's been so long, but it's been developing in my head for months. I've been working on this story off and on since January and it's finally time to start posting it. I have nowhere near what I'd hoped to have done by this time. I hope that posting it will motivate me to write more of this story.

Princess (5)       Sakura

Hyde yawned as he unlocked the door to his and Sakura’s apartment. He’d just returned from working the night shift at the bar. His shift ended at 7:00, but as usual he’d gotten stuck in traffic on the way home and it was almost 8:00 now. Hyde closed and locked the door then hung up his keys. There was no need to be quiet since Sakura would be awake and waiting for him.

“Yacchan, I’m home!”

“Welcome home. I’m in the living room.”

Hyde slipped off his shoes then went into the living room. Sakura, dressed in sweatpants and a t-shirt, was watching a movie on the couch. His black, shoulder-length hair was messy and sticking up on one side like he’d slept on it. “How was work?” Sakura smiled at Hyde then pulled him down for a kiss. The bartender returned the kiss and flopped down next to him.

“It was good. I got a lot of tips,” he said proudly. Customers loved the drinks he made and their conversations with him. Plus his good looks… although Hyde could do without the closet gay businessmen staring lustfully and becoming more and more obvious about their desire with every drink they had. At least they tipped well.

Sakura draped his arm around Hyde’s waist and pressed him closer. “I’m glad one of us likes his job.” He hated working at the grocery store and longed for something better.

Hyde laid his head on Sakura’s shoulder. “Is your boss still awful?”

“He’s worse now. He won’t let us have smoke breaks anymore.”

The bartender grimaced. He always appreciated his kind, friendly boss whenever Sakura complained about his. “He sounds horrible.”

“That’s because he is,” Sakura sighed. “I should have picked a job I actually liked instead of the one with the better salary. Or worked harder to get a job at a live house. I could be in a new band by now if I’d done that.” The couple had come to Tokyo with big dreams of becoming musicians and making it to the top, but reality was cruel. Bands failed as members lost interest or had other commitments. Keeping a band intact was hard enough, but aspiring musicians had to build up a fan base and try to catch a record label’s attention. Starting a music career and paying the bills had been too difficult though so Hyde and Sakura had stepped back from their dreams and found ordinary jobs. The taller man hadn’t minded so much when he was in a band, but his hopes for a better future died with that band. His job just made him miserable now.

“Why don’t you find a new band?” Hyde suggested. That’d be good for Sakura since he was always happier when he was in a band. He’d been gloomy since his last one went under a few weeks ago.

“I’m not sure if I should bother.”

The bartender frowned. That sounded ominous… “What do you mean?”

“I don’t know if a new band will last any longer than the previous ones I’ve had. I’ve been in five this year; do I really want to search for band six and then band seven when that goes under?” Sakura made a face and ran his fingers through Hyde’s long, black hair. “How come you stopped looking for bands? You love the music and being on stage… but you haven’t tried to find a new one since your last band went under.”

Hyde sighed. He’d stopped looking for bands because he wasn’t sure if he wanted to be a musician anymore. He liked having free time and privacy – things that would become a luxury if he happed to make it big. “I like my life,” Hyde said simply. “I have a wonderful lover, a good job, and free time to enjoy myself. I don’t want to give up any of those just to be in a band.” He kissed Sakura’s cheek. “Those are my reasons. But you still want to be a drummer so keep chasing your dream, Yacchan. You’ll catch up to it someday.”

Sakura pressed him closer. “Maybe you’re right.” He sighed and shut the TV off, expression darkening. “But what’s the point? Everything’s gone wrong since I came to this damn city. My bands always fail, I’m working at a job I hate because it’s too expensive to live in Tokyo, and I can’t play my drums here because our damn neighbor knocks on the door and asks me to be quiet! How can I improve if I can’t practice?” he looked frustrated as he raked his hair back. “Nothing good has happened since I moved to Tokyo.”

Hyde frowned. “That’s not true. You’re not a successful musician like you’d hoped to be, but good things have happened to you in Tokyo. You’ve made good friends, you always find new jobs and new bands, and…” he grinned as he nudged Sakura, “you met me, the love of your life! Is Tokyo really so horrible?”

That got Sakura to smile. “You’re right.” He turned Hyde’s face up and kissed him. “I’m just frustrated… but good things have happened to me in Tokyo. Especially you. You’re amazing and the best thing that’s happened to me since I moved here.”

“That’s better.” Hyde returned the kiss and reached up to tangle his fingers in Sakura’s hair. He’d planned to chat with his lover then go to bed, but he didn’t feel tired anymore. Hyde wanted more from Sakura before he went to sleep. The taller man kissed him with more passion and deepened the kiss, hands stroking down Hyde’s sides. The bartender broke the kiss so he could breathe. “Ah – did you practice today?”

Sakura snorted. “Yeah, for five minutes. Then Yamamoto came over to complain.” He started unbuttoning Hyde’s white dress shirt then glanced up at him. “You’re not too tired?” They worked opposite shifts and liked to stay up for an hour or two after Hyde came home from work to catch up on each other’s days.

“Not anymore.” Hyde shrugged out of the shirt so Sakura could toss it aside. His hair tie was next to go, letting the black curls tumble down his back. The bartender had gotten bored earlier and curled his hair for work. Something fun besides the natural light waves. Regulars had complimented him on the new style and encouraged him to try it again. Hyde intended to do so since it was easier to keep his nearly waist-length hair out of the way if it was in curls.

Sakura smirked. “Let’s be extra loud to piss Yamamoto off then.”

Hyde grinned. “Shouldn’t we be in bed so the headboard will slam against the wall?” their neighbor complained whenever Sakura played his drums so they got back at her this way. She was too polite to ask them to have quieter sex, but always gave them nasty looks whenever they’d been too loud.

Sakura laughed and pushed him down on the couch. “Too far.” He got on top of Hyde and kissed him. The bartender responded eagerly and tugged Sakura’s t-shirt up his chest. He raised his arms so Hyde could remove the shirt then shifted to trail kisses down his throat. The smaller man groaned softly. Mm… he loved that. Hyde wrapped his legs around Sakura’s hips and tilted his head back to give him better access.

The taller man nuzzled Hyde’s neck. “Did creeps stare at you tonight?”

“When don’t they?” Men always ogled him because he was beautiful and looked like a woman with his long hair. “They tip w- ah!” Hyde gasped as Sakura roughly bit his neck, leaving a mark to claim the smaller man as his. “Mm, Yacchan.” Biting was a turn on. What had he been saying before? “They tip well though.”

“I don’t care how well they tip.” Sakura unzipped Hyde’s pants. “I don’t like men checking out my lover.” He slid the pants down the bartender’s thighs. Hyde grinned and flipped them over, careful not to roll them off the couch. He was in a playful mood and didn’t feel like submitting tonight. Sakura stayed on his back for a few moments before rolling them over again. Hyde pouted as he once again ended up beneath Sakura with the other man tugging at his pants. He clearly assumed the bartender was teasing – something that happened often. Not tonight though. Hyde flipped them over a second time, squeaking as that pushed them off the couch.

Sakura winced as he hit the floor with his lover on top of him.  “Ouch.”

“I’m sorry, Yacchan!” Hyde gave him a worried look. “Are you okay?”

“Fine.” Sakura stroked his thighs. “Good thing you moved the table yesterday.” Hyde had moved it so he could vacuum and had never gotten around to putting it back.  “Otherwise I would have hit my head.”

“Yes, good thing.” Hyde kissed his forehead. “I don’t want to hurt my Yacchan.” He would have felt horrible if his lover had been injured because of him.

Sakura sat up so the bartender was straddling his lap. He slid his arms around Hyde’s waist and caressed his lower back, locking eyes with him. “So you want to top? I better move us to the bedroom then since you’re so damn lazy. After sex you just want to cuddle, but the couch isn’t big enough and I know you won’t feel like walking to the bedroom.”

Hyde pouted. “I’m not lazy!”

Sakura snorted. “Yes you are. Remember two nights ago?”

The bartender sighed. “I remember.” They’d had sex on the kitchen counter and Hyde had clung to his lover like a koala afterwards since he didn’t want to walk to their room.

Sakura kissed him. “That just proves you’re lazy.”

Hyde huffed and refused to comment. He wasn’t lazy – he just liked having his lover carry him.

Sakura rolled his eyes. “See? Pouty and lazy.”

“I thought you wanted me naked?” the other man retorted.

“Of course I do.” Sakura made sure Hyde was holding on to him then stood so he could carry him into the bedroom. “Let me guess,” he laid Hyde down on the bed and leaned over him. “I have to finish undressing both of us?”

The bartender smiled sweetly. “I do enjoy having you take off my clothes.” He reached up to bury his fingers in Sakura’s shoulder-length hair, giving it a playful tug. “You love me no matter how lazy I am, right?” Hyde gave him a look that said the only answer was yes.

“I love you.” Sakura pulled the bartender’s pants and boxers down. “Even though you’re lazy and eat all the food.” He snickered as Hyde pouted. Sakura tossed the clothes aside and stroked the smaller man’s legs, teasing his inner thighs. Hyde shivered then rolled them over once more to prove that he would be topping tonight. Sakura didn’t fight him this time. Despite his more dominant personality he would reverse their roles when Hyde wanted to. Sakura teased Hyde and fought for control, but always gave in to make him happy. He appreciated that. Having equality in their relationship was very important to him.

The bartender trailed his fingers down his lover’s bare chest. “You’ll have to scream my name extra loud so Yamamoto can’t sleep,” Hyde grinned.

Sakura snorted. “You’re the loud one. Not me.”

That was true. Being quiet during sex was very difficult for Hyde – not that he usually tried. Unless they were in public… “You’re still wearing clothes. Take them off.”

Sakura shifted under him so he could push his sweatpants down his hips. Impatient, Hyde removed them and the boxers so he could run his hands over his lover’s skin. Sakura shivered slightly and reached up to tangle his fingers in Hyde’s long hair. He pulled him down for a heated kiss, making the other wince at the pulling. The bartender didn’t complain though as he returned the kiss and fumbled for the lube. It had been under the pillow… or was it by the closet since they hadn’t made it to the bed last time?

“Where’s the lube?” Hyde mumbled against Sakura’s lips. He’d been too distracted with kissing his lover’s neck to focus on where he put the lube. Clearly he needed to pay better attention to these things.

Sakura pushed him back and leaned over to take the lube out of the bedside table’s drawer. “There.” He pressed the tube into Hyde’s hand then lay back against the pillows again.

“Thanks.” The bartender leaned down to kiss a trail from Sakura’s neck to his chest as he lubed up his fingers. The other man buried his hands in Hyde’s hair again, holding his head down so his chest would continue to get attention. The bartender was happy to oblige him. He nipped Sakura’s collarbones, nudging his legs further apart to give himself more room. The taller man shifted uncomfortably as Hyde inserted the first finger. It had been a while since Sakura had last bottomed. The bartender was gentle though, easing the finger in and out to let him adjust to the sensation. Apparently he was too slow though since Sakura pulled his hair, making him hiss in pain.

“I’m not made of glass, Hyde.”

“Well my head might be! So don’t pull my hair.” He pouted as he thrust the second finger inside his lover.

“Sorry.” Sakura groaned softly as he stroked his hair. “Ah… Hyde.” He pushed his hips back against the fingers, uncomfortable expression changing to a pleased one as his body adjusted to the sensation.

Hyde kissed him again as he started to scissor his fingers. He angled his wrist to press them against Sakura’s prostate. He broke the kiss to moan Hyde’s name, ecstasy flashing across his face. “Hyde! Mm… more,” he said, fingers finding their way back into Hyde’s long hair.

“I thought you weren’t the loud one,” the bartender teased. He thrust the third finger inside and pressed them into Sakura’s prostate again. He gave him a dirty look in response, eyes closing in bliss as he groaned.

“You’re still the – ah – loud one. Ken could hear you mm moaning from the oh s-stairs last month.”

Hyde blushed furiously at the memory. He had come home from shopping to model the sexy new outfit (short skirt and tight shirt) he’d bought for Sakura to enjoy. And remove. The other man had loved it so much that they barely made it to the couch. Ken, unaware of this, had stopped by the apartment to drop off a movie. He still teased Hyde about the incident, much to his humiliation. He could only hope his friend would forget about it soon. But Hyde had more important things to think about now.

The bartender withdrew his fingers and smirked at his lover. “Would you rather have me be quiet during sex?”

“No!” Sakura pushed the lube at him again, clearly impatient for him to continue. “I love how loudly you scream my name.”

“Well don’t tease me then,” Hyde huffed.

Sakura laughed and kissed him again. “Says the one who teases me all the time.”

Hyde stuck his tongue out. “That’s different.” He picked up the lube and squeezed it out into his hand. He coated his erection in it, groaning at his own touch. He leaned down to steal another kiss then wrapped his arms around Sakura’s waist as he slid into him. He broke the kiss to moan since his lover felt so good around him. So tight… Sakura made another noise of discomfort, but Hyde held still and showered his face in tender kisses until he adjusted to him.

“Ah, move.”

The bartender eased out then thrust back in, setting a slow pace for his lover’s sake. It really had been a while.

“Not made of glass,” Sakura reminded him. He wasn’t into slow and gentle.

Hyde nodded and started thrusting faster, harder – just how his lover liked it. He kissed Sakura again, moans occasionally muffled by the kisses but sometimes sounding throughout the bedroom. Their neighbor would definitely be giving them nasty looks the next time she saw them. Hyde trailed kisses down Sakura’s chest, hissing in pain as his lover pulled him up by his hair to claim a rough kiss. The sudden movement changed his angle and he hit Sakura’s prostate.

The other man groaned and pressed his head back against the pillows. “Mm… Hyde.”

“Stop pulling my hair.” He pouted as he continued to hit that spot. Sakura had an unfortunate habit of pulling his hair during sex. Hyde sometimes had a headache afterwards due to his lover yanking at his hair.

“Sorry.” Sakura released his hair with another low moan. He was never as vocal as Hyde, but he could tell by the pleasure on the other man’s face that he was enjoying every minute. That was all he needed.

“Ah, Yacchan,” Hyde groaned and leaned down to kiss him. “I love you.”

“Love you ohh too.”

The bartender kissed him again and reached down to grasp Sakura’s erection, pumping him in time to his thrusts. He groaned again and gripped Hyde’s shoulders. He knew to leave the smaller man’s hair alone now that he had been scolded twice for pulling it. Hyde watched Sakura’s pleasured, flush face and felt himself nearing completion.

“Yacchan, I-” he didn’t get a chance to finish as Sakura pulled him down for a kiss. I’m close. He could feel his lover’s body tensing beneath him and knew he was just as close.

“Hyde!” Sakura groaned his name, arching up into Hyde as he came. The bartender moaned loudly as his lover tightened around him. Sakura’s body gave out and he collapsed against the pillows, looking dazed but happy. The tightening was too much for Hyde and he collapsed on Sakura’s chest as his own orgasm came. He panted into his lover’s shoulder as he tried to catch his breath. Well, Yamamoto would be irritated just by hearing him.

“Good thing you moved us,” Hyde mumbled. He was too drained to even roll off of Sakura. Going from the couch to the bedroom would have been impossible.

Sakura chuckled. “Like I said, I know how lazy you are.” He gently moved Hyde off of him so that they were both lying against the pillows.

The bartender huffed. “I’m not that lazy.” He wasn’t going to let this go, was he?

Sakura ruffled his hair. “You tell yourself that.”

Hyde rolled his eyes and leaned over him to grab the tissues off the bedside table. He cleaned both of them up then threw the tissues away and snuggled up against his lover’s side. Mm… so comfortable. He frowned as Sakura shifted. Why was he moving?

“Yacchan,” he sighed as his lover took his cigarettes and lighter out of the bedside table. Smoking in bed was another bad habit of Sakura’s that Hyde disliked. He enjoyed an after sex smoke as much as his lover did, but preferred to have a cigarette outside the bedroom.

“I’m just having one.” Sakura pulled a cigarette out of the pack and lit it, then lay back down. He draped his arm around Hyde and pressed him closer as he took a drag. The bartender made a face, but didn’t reject the cigarette when it was offered to him. He really didn’t like smoking in bed, but he would never turn down a cigarette after sex. Hyde blew out the smoke and took another drag then returned the cigarette. He laid his head on Sakura’s shoulder, tracing invisible patterns on his chest.

“Yacchan… are you happy?”

“Now? Of course I am.”

“No, that’s not what I meant. I want to know if you’re happy in general.” Hyde was a little nervous about Sakura’s answer. He was upset about how life had turned out – couldn’t hold down a band, hated his job, and was so far away from achieving his dream that he was considering giving up.

“I’m happy as long as I’m with you,” Sakura replied. He glanced down at him and stroked his hair. “I don’t like how my life in Tokyo turned out, but despite my problems I’m glad I moved here. I was just being overdramatic earlier. Like you said earlier, Tokyo brought me friends… and you. The most important person in my life.” He smiled at Hyde. “You make my life so much better, Hyde. You mean the world to me.”

The bartender smiled. “Really?”

“Really.”

Hyde let out a sigh of relief. “Good. You’re always so stressed about your job and not being in a band… I was afraid you were miserable.”

Sakura shrugged and took another drag on the cigarette. “Life is cruel. Don’t worry about me though. Like I said, I’m happy when I’m with you. As long as you’re in my life I can survive without my dreams.”

“You’ll find a way to make your dreams come true.” Sakura was an amazing drummer and talented composer. Sometimes they wrote songs together, and Hyde would sing or play guitar to the music his lover had created. Sakura was so talented that any band would be lucky to have him… if only he could find one that would last and take him to the top.

“We’ll see.” Sakura combed his fingers through Hyde’s hair. “You should sleep now. I know you’re tired from being up all day.”

“Are you going to stay up longer?”

“No.” Sakura shook his head. “I’m tired too… and I have to go to work in a few hours.” He grimaced as he offered Hyde the cigarette. The bartender took it for one last smoke as he rubbed his lover’s chest. Poor Sakura. He smiled around the cigarette as he thought about their mutual friend Tetsu and his anti-smoking tirade yesterday. Tetsu didn’t smoke and constantly nagged his friends to quit. He’d be scandalized if he could see them now.

“You’re slowly killing yourselves with that disgusting smoke! You’ll get lung cancer or have a heart attack when you’re older if you don’t quit. And you want to be a singer, Hyde. How are you supposed to sing if you ruin your voice with cigarettes?” Despite Tetsu’s complaints, Hyde enjoyed smoking and saw no reason to quit. Besides, everyone else smoked. Ken, Sakura, celebrities, various people on the street… why should he give up something he enjoyed?

“What are you thinking about?” Sakura asked.

“Tet-chan and his nagging.”

Sakura chuckled softly. “Poor Tetsu. His three closest friends are chain smokers.”

“Mm.” Hyde took another drag then leaned down to Sakura. He blew the smoke into his mouth for a cigarette kiss, smiling as he kissed him again. “Night, Yacchan.” Hyde stubbed the cigarette out in the ashtray next to the lamp and lay down with his head on Sakura’s chest.  He preferred his Yacchan pillow to an actual pillow since he liked to fall asleep listening to his lover’s heartbeat.

“Good night.” Sakura stroked his hair and lit another cigarette.

Hyde frowned. “I thought you were just having one.”

“I changed my mind.”

“If you drop ash on my hair I’ll never have sex with you again,” Hyde threatened. It had happened a couple months ago when they were lying in bed together. Sakura’s phone had buzzed and he kept the cigarette in his mouth as he leaned over Hyde to get his phone. Ash had dropped into the bartender’s hair and singed it. Hyde had been furious since he had to get a couple inches taken off. Cigarettes had been barred from the bedroom, but after much pleading and promises to be careful Sakura had resumed smoking in bed last week.

“I promise I won’t.”

“Good.”

“Go to sleep, Hyde.” Sakura pulled the sheets up over them and ran his fingers through the bartender’s hair.

“Night.” Hyde yawned and closed his eyes. Even though Sakura hated his job and lack of a band, Hyde was happy with his life. He had an enjoyable job that paid well, a relationship that blended friendship and love since Sakura was his best friend as well as his lover, and a cozy apartment.

Life was good.

Notes
1) I wanted Hyde to be the dominant one at least once in this story. I didn't intend for this to happen in the first chapter, but I realized it wasn't going to fit anywhere else in the fic so... started with smut.
2) Heroin comes in the next chapter. I've never written addiction before so it's a challenge, but writers need challenges to continue improving.
3) Anyone want to share some good SakuHai icons? I need one for this fic...

“Not made of glass,” Sakura reminded. is it my lack of knowledge, or does that need a 'him'? ^_^"

“Stop pulling my hair.” He pouted as he continued to that spot.
to ... hit ? that spot. well, it lacks a verb. xD

and starting with smut is good. Very good. *grins widely* I loved this. I love the realism, the way they talk when they're fooling around. That's just how it happens in real life I guess. Often. xD I also liked the fact Hyde is topping! It's been a while since I read that and you make it seem so natural and awesome. Normal. Because most people in a gay relationship tend to switch too. Except if you totally love being bottom/top I guess? well whatever. Most couples switch, I think.

I loved how it started out with a chapter on how good Hyde thinks his life is and how Sakura tells him he'll be fine because he has Hyde, but that he still has difficulties with his bands and job and that it is actually bringing him down. I'm looking forward to more ^_^

It's been a while since I first read this; I'm glad to see it posted now :)

Sakura sort of reminded me of myslef in the beginning... I tend to get frustrated and discouraged a lot and sometimes I guess I need someone else to show me the bright side of things too, like Hyde did here.

Hyde's hair sounds like it'd look really pretty with the curls! Did you add that later? I don't remember it.

Sakura smirked. “Let’s be extra loud to piss Yamamoto off then.”

Hyde grinned. “Shouldn’t we be in bed so the headboard will slam against the wall?”

XDD

I love both their teasing, lol. And the sex was hot too of course ;)

Looking forward to seeing more~

Me neither. That's really good :)

Yeah ^^' Being a mix is probably the best; you can help others, and you can also receive help when you need it.

Really? I guess it's just been so long or my memory sucks XD

It keeps things light and interesting, and yeah, that's true ^^ You're welcome.

I saw you posted it. Yeah, probably XD Speaking of which, I still feel awful that I have all your emails to reply to. I have an easier time with lj comments; I don't know why I'm so overwhelmed by the emails, but I will get to them soon...
