Author's Comment: So a certain somebody got me hooked on writing ghost stories... and I got an idea for a new one yesterday. Watching BUCK-TICK's M.A.D. PV and Drink It Down lead to ideas, apparently. Originally, I had thought of writing this in the Drink It Down universe with the vampires in the mansion and including ghosts too. I guess the ghosts won as there won't be vampires in this. Fic is tentatively set at 3 chapters but that might change depending on the muses.

Tetsu sighed as he pulled into the parking lot of an old, European style mansion. There were a few other cars parked here. Probably staff because it was the off-season for haunted tours. Who was interested in Halloween activities in January? Just Hyde… he’d been raving about the mansion for the last couple weeks. He kept insisting they check it out so to make him shut up about the place, Tetsu had agreed to go. And dragged Ken and Yukihiro with him. If he had to suffer through this then so should they. They needed to get together anyway to discuss when to return as L’Arc~en~Ciel and what they should do to prepare for that.

“I guess… we’re here.” Tetsu shut the engine off, leaning back against his seat. The building looked like the standard haunted mansion. It was large with at least four floors, possibly more if there was an attic and a basement. To be properly “haunted” though it should have both. And crawl spaces. It was just so… common looking though. The outer walls were white, there were thick red curtains covering most of the windows although some were ajar so one could be tricked into believing they’d seen something looking out the window at them. There was a huge window on the second floor with a widow’s walk beneath it. A master bedroom, perhaps. Two of the windows on the first floor had been boarded up and the paint around that area was faded and chipped. Setting the mood, of course.

“Looks eerie enough,” Yukihiro said.

“I’m not sure… I think Tetsu’s outfit is scarier.” Ken snickered, giving the bassist a smug look as he turned to glare at his friend. Was it necessary to make fun of the colorful outfit he’d worn today? Just because he was going to spend the night in a so-called haunted hotel didn’t mean he had to wear all black. Hyde and Ken looked like they’d stepped out of a black hole and Yukihiro wasn’t much better.

“I think it looks perfect,” Hyde said. Tetsu thought he was talking about his clothes then realized his lover was staring at the mansion and smiling. He should have known better. Hyde’s limited colors made it impossible for him to properly appreciate Tetsu’s colorful clothes. But he couldn’t help but smile as he saw how excited his lover looked. Another reason he’d agreed to this trip was to make Hyde happy. That and the little brat had manipulated him into agreeing. He’d insisted that the mansion could be a good place to film a PV, an echo of Drink it Down. Also he’d used his big eyes and irresistible pout. It was impossible to say no to that combination, and the potential for inspiration had been good enough to get everyone to come.

Ken unbuckled his seatbelt. “So this is the place where Hyde’s going to scream louder than a fangirl?”

Hyde twisted to glare at him. “No! I don’t scream like a fangirl. Ever.”

“Tetsu makes you. I’ve roomed next to you two on tour before.”

The lovers in question blushed furiously. Tetsu shrank down in his seat, wishing he could disappear. There was nothing more embarrassing than having his sex life brought up like this. Ken knew that so could never resist teasing them.

Ken smirked, looking victorious. “Also, remember what happened when we went to the haunted house last year? You practically knocked me over when that ghost girl jumped down from the ceiling.”

“But…” Hyde’s mouth closed as he realized he didn’t have a good comeback. Tetsu laughed softly. Hyde loved horror books, games, and movies… but put him in a haunted house and he’d jump and squeal over everything. It was cute though since he’d always cling to Tetsu. Hyde had his cuddly moments but usually he wasn’t that affectionate so Tetsu enjoyed the chance to be so close to his lover.

“If it’s too cheesy, we can spend the night somewhere else. We passed a good hotel on the way to this mansion.”

Yukihiro leaned forward. “Are you afraid of staying here?”

“No,” Tetsu said firmly. “I’d just prefer to spend the weekend in a hotel instead of a so-called haunted mansion. It’s not even October! I’m not in the mood for hauntings.” But Hyde was. He always was.

Hyde opened the car door and got outside. “Come on, Tet-chan. We’ve already reserved rooms and booked a tour. There’s no point in cancelling now that we’re here.”

Tetsu couldn’t deny that. It didn’t stop him from sighing though. He got out of the car and went to the trunk, taking out his rainbow print suitcase that clashed horribly with his hot pink cardigan, leopard print jeans, light orange and blue plaid tank top, and red boots. Ken pretended to gag at the combination. Tetsu gave him a nasty look in response. There was no crime in liking bright colors and prints! They were fun!

“I think your fashion sense might scare the ghosts away.”

“Or Hyde might trample one in his desperation to get to the restaurant.” Yukihiro gave Hyde a sweet smile as he glared at him. Yukihiro didn’t tease the others too much, but his chocolate had fallen victim to Hyde’s hunger earlier. It was his own fault for leaving the candy unattended though. Everyone knew better than to leave food lying around when Hyde was nearby.

“There’s nothing wrong with being colorful,” Tetsu grumbled.

“Or hungry!”

Ken took his simple black bag out of the trunk. “Let’s go inside, I’m curious.” He waited until Yukihiro and Hyde had gathered their luggage then started towards the entrance. The door was left ajar and there was a sign posted outside, advertising room rates and tour prices. Now that killed the atmosphere. Tetsu said nothing though as they entered the mansion. The lights were dim enough to set the mood but not so dark that guests would trip over something. Two women stood by a reception desk. They were completely identical: same hair length and style, same makeup, identical black dresses and heels, and matching eerie smiles. Their only differences were the nametags on their chest and the folder that Mayu, the one on the right, was holding.

“Welcome to the mansion.” They bowed and spoke in unison, voices soft and eerie. Tetsu resisted the urge to roll his eyes. Horror and twins were such a cliché combination that there was nothing disturbing about them. They straightened and one stepped forward. “My name is Mayu and I will lead you to your rooms. Aya will lead the tour when you are ready.” She gave her sister that same eerie smile then bowed again and turned. Aya and Mayu were setting the atmosphere well, but Tetsu didn’t buy it. Hyde clearly did since he’d just shivered. The bassist didn’t believe in ghosts and saw the mansion for what it was: a way to use the building’s history to lure in gullible tourists. Like Hyde, but he wouldn’t say that to his lover. It might upset him.

Mayu led them down the hallway, heels clicking against the tiles. She turned down another hallway. This one was filled with closed doors leading to bedrooms. There were also three vending machines at the end of the hallway. Tetsu held back a sigh. Ah yes, there was nothing more haunted than having vending machines in the hotel. One looked like it had snacks though so he knew Hyde would be visiting that a few times throughout their stay. He was even eyeing it now. Tetsu ruffled his hair then looked at Mayu again as she continued. “I have placed you all near each other.” She glanced back over her shoulder, smile becoming sweet. “In case you are afraid and wish for each other’s company.” She stopped in front of the first room. The doors had been remodeled to accept key cards like most hotels did nowadays. Not helping the atmosphere… She swiped the card and opened the door. Then she turned the light on and stepped aside. The room was simple: a bed, a desk with a mirror above it, a dresser, closet, and a couple chairs. There was also a bookshelf and another door that led to a bathroom. The bed was designed for one person only so Tetsu glanced at Ken and Yukihiro to see who would take this room.

“I’ll take it.” Ken stepped forward.

Mayu bowed again. “Your key.” She presented Ken with the key. He thanked her and took it, eyes lingering on the tight bodice of her dress. Tetsu resisted the urge to roll his eyes again. Was it really so difficult for Ken to not ogle an attractive woman? Of course… this was Ken. The man who loved dirty jokes, teasing Tetsu and Hyde about their sex life, and checking out everything with boobs and a nice ass. It was no secret that Ken loved women. Mayu noticed where his eyes were lingering but didn’t comment. Instead she turned to the other three. “Would you like to stay in your rooms and recover from your trip or would you like to have dinner first?”

Tetsu stretched. He’d driven here so he was ready to relax a little with Hyde then get something to eat. They had plenty of time to do that since they’d booked the midnight tour. What was the point of doing a ghost tour during the day? “I’d prefer to get some rest first.” He glanced at the others, who were nodding in agreement. Except for Hyde who was rubbing his stomach. He would need food of course… Hyde was always hungry.

Mayu nodded. “Please go to the restaurant when you are ready. It is to the left of the lobby. Take care not to wander too far into the mansion… the spirits get restless when those who do not belong disturb their peace.” This time she smirked. “I will be waiting for you at the front desk at midnight.” Her voice lowered to an eerie-sounding murmur. “If the mansion does not frighten you away before then.”

Tetsu glanced at Ken, rolling their eyes in unison. They could do without the theatrics. Yukihiro and Hyde seemed interested though. Well, staying here would certainly be an experience.

Hyde dropped his suitcase on the floor then flopped down on the king-sized bed. He crossed his arms behind his head, looking comfortable. “I’m glad I brought my sketchbook.” Tetsu had to admit that the setup of the room was perfect for a haunted mansion. The king sized bed was set in the middle of the room with a large closet behind them, a desk and dresser to the right, and a mirror hanging on the wall above a small table and chairs for dining inside. It’d be easy to imagine something looking out at them from the closet or the mirror. Tetsu would make Hyde sleep on the mirror side to see if he’d get creeped out during the night.

“Are you going to ignore me and draw?” Tetsu asked as he sat down next to his lover. He’d assumed he’d get ten, maybe twenty minutes of rest before Hyde’s stomach demanded food.  He’d hoped to use that time to cuddle with his lover.

Hyde shifted over so Tetsu had more space to join him. “Only if you’re boring.” He squealed and immediately started flailing as the bassist tickled his sides. “Stop that!” he laughed, trying to pout. It didn’t work since he kept giggling. Tetsu grasped his wrists so he couldn’t hit him then leaned down to kiss Hyde.

"I’ll keep you entertained.” The words were suggestive enough that he didn’t need to change his tone to imply just how he would keep Hyde entertained. Clearly the prospect of sex was more interesting than food since the vocalist’s eyes lit up.

He smirked as he pulled Tetsu down on top of him. “Is that a promise?” he spread his legs so his lover could settle in between them. Immediately he did so, caressing Hyde’s thighs.

“It’s a guarantee.” Tetsu kissed him again. His hands moved up to Hyde’s hair as he deepened the kiss. They’d been so busy with their respective solo projects that there hadn’t been much time for each other. Tetsu hated to see Hyde so busy with VAMPS since it meant less time with him, but he did love the physical changes. Hyde always became more conscious of his body when he sang for VAMPS. He wanted a more muscular physique so ate healthier and started working out. Tetsu always loved running his hands over those new muscles. It was time that he properly “appreciate” Hyde’s new body. Tetsu knelt between the vocalist’s legs and started unzipped his jeans.

They were so focused on each other that they didn’t notice the lights flicker. They also didn’t see a faint image appearing in the mirror, seeming to watch them before disappearing. Tetsu didn’t know it yet… but he would soon realize that ghosts were very real.

Notes
1) I, like Tetsu in this, am a skeptic. I don't believe in ghosts but it's fun to write ghost stories anyway.
2) Don't ask for smut. I have a smutty fic that's still waiting to be finished.
3) Brain is sleepy so if I missed any errors, please point it out. At least I didn't wake up at 5 today.

I was hoping there wouldn't be smut this time since it might take away from the story. Even if most horror stories tend to have its victims having sex lol.

"Also he’d used his big eyes and irresistible.
The 'irresistible' might be an error? ^^;

Poor Tetsu keeps getting teased by Ken, but at least he dragged the other two there so I guess Ken will get his? I'm curious as to what sort of encounters there will be. I'll be waiting for the next part :D

This would be the first fic in a while that I thought, "Noo~ Don't have sex. At least, not until everything's over". In horror movies, it's always the extra people who are in it just to die anyway ^^;

Poor Ken :P
I imagine Hyde looking cutely confused at the vending machine XD
